USUF and Rotary Club Kyiv International are on a mission to ensure that every displaced person in Ukraine has shelter, food, and water—an ambitious project that will require $3.9 million. It costs $200 to equip one place for IDPs, and any amount that you donate is important for this cause.
From the first days of the war, the U.S.-Ukraine Foundation has supported Rotary Club Kyiv as they work with other Rotary International clubs in Ukraine, Europe, and around the world to address the dire humanitarian crisis in Ukraine. From refugee evacuations to delivering essential supplies to those stranded on the front lines, Rotary volunteers have risked and even lost their lives aiding the victims of war throughout Ukraine.
Kyiv Rotary is working to address all aspects of the humanitarian crisis in Ukraine, focusing on the three regions closest to their club headquarters: Kyiv, Chernihiv, and Kharkiv regions, which comprise 10 territorial communities in total.
Right now, more than 800,000 people in Ukraine are left without a home, sleeping on floors and in the streets.
In March 2022, USUF and Rotary Club Kyiv International launched the large-scale joint project Shelter to equip up to 50 shelters for internally displaced peoples (IDPs) in 12 regions of Ukraine. In the month of June, the team prepared six shelters. The two priority shelters are in the cities of Irpin and Bucha, where over 7,000 people have been left homeless by Russia's brutal destruction. A total of $84,600 is needed to provide shelter to Ukrainians in these cities.
