Russia's indiscriminate and widespread destruction in Ukraine has taken the lives and livelihood of an unimaginable number of people in Ukraine. Working dogs are essential to search and rescue operations for saving people trapped in the wreckage and ruin across the country. These dogs are just as vulnerable to injury as their human counterparts, with wounds from rubble and land mine explosions taking them out for weeks or months at a time, if not indefinitely.
To ensure that these invaluable canines are safe and can continue saving lives, we're providing protective equipment specifically designed for working dogs. Our first emergency shipment of protective equipment was sourced from the U.S., but we've now identified K9 protection sourced within Ukraine as part of our larger strategy of prioritizing aid sourced within Ukraine in order to increase delivery speed and bolster local economies.
