Washington, D.C. Stands for Ukraine

A fundraising event on Capitol Hill put together by a group of volunteers to support Ukraine

Dear Friends,

Thank you very much for your support of the memorable event on Tuesday, March 15th. For those who attended and couldn't make it, here is a link to the video message from Wladimir Klitschko, filmed in Kyiv for this event.

Because of your support, we raised upward of $65,000 for Operation Ukraine Airlift! A special thank you to our sponsors, Logan International Relations, Interbalt, Natural Food Group, and support from the Musicians of the Kennedy Center Opera House Orchestra, AFP, D Light Cafe & Bakery, and photography by Jason Chan.

Since Russia invaded Ukraine three weeks ago, the U.S.-Ukraine Foundation has established Operation Ukraine Airlift in partnership with the Afya Foundation. The Airlift is an initiative to deliver medical supplies to all parts of Ukraine, and it has been funding the flying of medical supplies to Poland for forwarding trucking to Ukraine. Initial shipments have been delivered to the Military Hospital in Kyiv. WUSA9 in D.C. interviewed Nadia McConnell, president of the U.S.-Ukraine Foundation, to discuss Operation Ukraine Airlift.

It must be noted how this event came together so quickly: 10 people in DC came together on March 2nd to do something by March 15th to support Operation Ukraine Airlift. Imagine what we can do with more people moving onward.

The money raised by this is being used now to secure more air transportation, taking supplies from the U.S. to countries surrounding Ukraine for ground transport to those in need.

The U.S.-Ukraine Foundation (USUF) is the leading 501(c)(3) organization advancing Ukraine’s interests in the United States. USUF was formed in Washington, D.C. and Ukraine in 1991, and has established numerous successful programs supporting humanitarian aid for Ukraine and the development of democratic norms, economic growth, and human rights in the country.

Thank you again for your support,

The U.S.-Ukraine Foundation
