About the Beneficiaries:

World Central Kitchen (WCK), founded in 2010 by Chef José Andrés, is one of the first on the frontlines, providing meals in response to humanitarian, climate, and community crises while building resilient food systems with locally-led solutions. WCK has provided over twenty million vital meals across eight countries in response to the crisis created by the Ukraine invasion by Russia.

The U.S.-Ukraine Foundation (USUF) was founded in 1991, before the fall of the Soviet Union; USUF supports the development of democracy, a free-market economy, and human rights in Ukraine while strengthening the bonds between America and Ukraine. Since the beginning of the crisis, USUF has been delivering essential medical supplies and humanitarian aid to hospitals and communities in Ukraine as well as the refugees who have fled to several generous countries in Europe.

The Ukraine Direct Action NGO Network (BlueCheck) unites the capabilities of the U.S.-Ukraine Foundation, a 501c3 non-profit “do tank” founded before the Soviet collapse in 1991, and a newly-formed collective of humanitarian crisis response experts, academics, and filmmakers with decades of experience addressing the needs of conflict-affected populations and documenting solidarity movements countering oppression. In addition, risk professionals from leading global law firm Ropes & Gray and reputation diligence firm Integrity Risk International have partnered on a pro bono basis with Blue Check to diligence potential recipients of donor’s funds. This partnership allows BlueCheck to make sound and efficient decisions when distributing aid and provides donors the confidence that their support reaches the people of Ukraine who need it most.

About our Host:

Liev Schreiber, Actor/Director/Writer, came together with the other BlueCheck co-founders in response to the Russian Invasion. Liev, with Ukrainian roots, has supported cross-cultural ties through his work, in particular, Everything is Illuminated, his directorial debut, which follows a young American Jew to Western Ukraine to find the woman who saved his grandfather during the Holocaust. He is a founding member of Blue Check and inspired the initial ideas that helped bring this project to life.
