The tradition to mark the day of Ukrainian national embroidered clothes, vyshyvanka, was established relatively recently but has already spread around the world. The purpose of this holiday celebrated on the third Thursday of May is to preserve and popularize folk traditions. That day you can usually see people dressed in embroidered clothes on the street, in transport, at work, schools, etc. The Vyshyvanka Day does not have any obligatory requirements, except for putting your vyshyvanka on. So quarantining or not, why don't you take yours off the shelf and wear it today? Taking pictures and sharing them with friends is highly encouraged as well as complimenting their beautiful colorful vysyvankas in return!
