Last Address, the popular initiative to remember victims of Stalin’s repressions by placing a commemorative plaque on their last residence, has enjoyed unique success in Russia. Its sister organizations are now beginning to open in other countries, including Ukraine. What are the comparative challenges of commemorating victims of Stalin’s repressions in different post-communist countries? How are the organizers of Ukraine’s Last Address initiative overcoming them?
