USUF interns often have a relatively short period in Washington, DC, and USUF strives to balance office responsibilities with educational activities around town. Activities are memorable, but more importantly, these activities imbue interns with increased interest in Ukrainian-American politics and a wider perspective of U.S. government and international affairs.

Summer interns at the World Bank

Past intern events have included meetings with congressional staffers, Embassy of Ukraine officials, and Ukrainian-American community leaders. USUF also organizes tours of DC's top sites, such as the Supreme Court, U.S. Department of State, Department of Treasury, Helsinki Commission, or participation in a live audience at CNN's Crossfire. In addition to seeing much of Washington, interns have taken weekend trips to the Maryland seashore and the UNA Estate Soyuzivka in New York.
