The U.S.-Ukraine Foundation makes available externship opportunities when a student can not come to Washington, DC. Externs work with the Foundation’s staff on select initiatives from offsite locations around the country.
Unable to accommodate all applicants at the DC office, the Foundation can assist some students in securing an internship at other organizations in Washington, DC while continuing to include them in USUF's activities. Previous “shared” interns have interned at the U.S. Court of Federal Claims, the European Division of the Library of Congress, Ukrainian National Information Service, Embassy of Ukraine, and Voice of America.
Previous USUF externs and “shared” interns:
- A medical doctor from Odesa, Alexander Rakul is a Muskie Fellow pursuing a MA in Healthcare Administration at California State University at Hayward and externed for the Foundation in developing healthcare programs.
- An extern located in New York City, Serhiy Spivakovsky, a native of Odesa and Muskie fellow at Hofstra University, helped Business Links Editor, Iryna Mokra, on expanding the Business Links publication.
