Founder & Director of Ukrainian Think Tanks Liaison Office
The U.S.-Ukraine Foundation hosted a round table discussion with Dr. Olena Prystayko, founder & director of the Ukrainian Think Tanks Liaison Office in Brussels, Belgium on September 16, 2015.
The Ukrainian Think Tanks Liaison Office in Brussels represents Ukrainian Think Tanks and creates a permanent platform for their activities in Brussels and in the member states of the EU. The Office provides help in the EU for its Ukrainian members and serves as a contact point for European partners that are interested in Ukraine. The organization's main aim is to spread knowledge about Ukraine in the member states of the EU. The Office performs representative functions of the Ukrainian non-governmental analytical community in Brussels within the mandate given to it by its members.
Through her work, Ms. Prystayko has met with a number of U.S. official visitors to Brussels, providing insight into countering Russian propaganda in Europe. Her organization works to increase connections between Ukraine and the West, particularly the EU.
Dr. Prystayko was in the United States for eight days through the International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) of the U.S. Department of State.
During her talk at the Foundation, which included representatives from the Embassy of Ukraine and the White House, Dr. Prystayko predominantly explored think tanks and discussed the role they play in policy formation. She also talked about the growing demand for the Ukrainian perspective, primarily through think tanks such as her own, by U.S. and European leadership following Maidan and in light of the ongoing war in eastern Ukraine.
After meeting with the U.S.-Ukraine Foundation and many other D.C. organizations, Dr. Prystayko will return to work and share her experiences, key takeaways, and recommendations with her office.
