Gifts in Memory

Maria Tymiak, age 89, passed away on July 28, 2016 in Illinois.  Her family, working through the Canada Ukraine Foundation, was instrumental in starting the Kovaluk Scholarship Fund at the U.S.-Ukraine Foundation, which benefits the students in the village of Zabolotivci (Lviv Oblast).  At the time of Maria Tymiak's death, friends and family members donated $8,800 in her memory to the U.S.-Ukraine Foundation's Kovaluk Scholarship Fund.  

A gift of $50 was made in memory of Illia Fedorovych Samborsky in March 2016.

Gifts made on a reoccurring basis in honor of Mary Budziak

Friends and family members of Jerome Kozak of Michigan donated over $500 in his memory to the U.S.-Ukraine Foundation during Jan - Feb 2016.

Friends and family members of Bohdanna Renata Horodysky donated nearly $1,600 in her memory to the U.S.-Ukraine Foundation.  Bohdanna R. Horodysky passed away on October 7, 2015 in Michigan. She was the wife of Dr. Orest Horodysky and mother of Sonia Horodysky, Myron Horodysky and Lillian (Victor) Kowalenko.  Your generosity is very much appreciated. 

Gifts of $200 were made to the Foundation in memory of Rostyslav Chomiak in January 2016. 

A December 2015 gift of $250 was made in memory of  Christina Saluk

To honor Petro and Sophie Nowak, a gift of $1,000 was made to the Foundation in November 2015. 

The Mary Waris Revocable Trust and The Michael Waris, Jr. Credit Shelter Trust bequeathed $19,500 to the Foundation during September 2015 - March 2016.

Friends and family members of Oksana Matla contributed $400 in her memory to the Foundation in 2015.   Oksana Matla (nee Dymicky) of Langhorne, PA passed away on June 5, 2015 at the age of 64.  Oksana was the loving wife of the late Zenon Matla, mother of Alexandra (Claudio) Zampetti, Natalie (Charles) Bassinski, and Andrea (Matthew) Sumrall; grandmother of Maya, Luca, Eva, Zen and Lina and sister of Lida (Benjamin) Pakula. 

Raisa Zelinsky, who died on June 2, 2015 at the age of 96, was honored by family members with their gifts totaling nearly $1,200 to the U.S.-Ukraine Foundation. 

A memorial gift of $100 was made to the Foundation in 2015 honoring Dr. Milas Lebedovych. 

A memorial gift of $100 was made to the Foundation in May 2015 honoring Leo Wysochansky.

Irena Komarnyckyj
, the mother of President Nadia K.McConnell, passed away in Arizona on October 14, 2014.  14 individuals donated $1,475 to the Foundation in her memory in 2014-2015.  Irena Komarnyckyj is survived by her daughter Nadia (Robert), her son Orest (Oksana) and her grandchildren Andrij McConnell, Deanna McConnell, Ksenia Komarnyckyj and Katya Komarnyckyj as well as family in Ukraine. 

Through the American Express Employee Giving Program a gift was made in December 2014 to remember Mary Budziak

The Luzniak Family of Florida, with special thanks to Lubomir & Daria Luzniak of Rotondo West, for naming the U.S.-Ukraine Foundation as one of the beneficiaries of the many gifts donated in honor of Bohdan Luzniak of North Port, who died on May 26, 2005 at the age of 84. Eighteen friends and family members donated $750 to the Foundation in remembrance of Mr. Luzniak.

The Boyko Family of Florida and Virginia for gifts donated in honor of Mychailo Boyko of Port Charlotte, FL. Eight friends and family members donated $485 to the Zapytiv Community Development Fund in remembrance of Mr. Boyko.

Ms. Evhenia Benko of Parma, Ohio who helped to raise $200 from 14 families during the Orange Revolution for the U.S.-Ukraine Foundation.
